A brief update:
It might snow in Houston this weekend, which is, like, a bit of a nightmare given last year, but I’m staying warm, both physically and creatively.
I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of the Stages Sin Muros: A Borderless Teatro Festival for 2022. Last February, I remember tweeting on my private Twitter account that my play Count Yourself Among the Lucky WILL be performed at The Gordy at some point in my life. And now I’m here. It’s a strange feeling to have a play that was so cathartic to write to get a staged reading in my home city of Houston. It’ll be good, I think, I know. Here’s to not preemptively fucking shit up! Here’s a playlist I made for it when I wrote the first draft in the fall of 2020.
I’m writing a brand-new play for The Citadel of Playwrights, an incredible cohort of writers I’m delighted to have been accepted into. You might’ve seen what I decided to call it.

It gives me a chuckle. Anyways, we’ll see what happens to it. It’ll be a love story. More accurately, it’ll be a love letter to the people who kept me alive while in college, whether they know it or not. Expect numerous references to a campus that may or may not be W*ll*sl*y College. Here’s a playlist I’ve made for it.
I continue to develop a new play for the Rec Room Writers Group. The development here is that after three months of working on a 37-page draft, I’ve decided to scrap it all and start on a brand-new draft that touches on similar themes: maladaptive daydreaming, parasocial relationships, race & Latinidad, regional Mexican music, and frenemies. Expect the following: an unsubtle tribute to my all-time celebrity crush, some Nacho Libre references, aguas de melón, and the possibly nonexistent line between platonic and romantic love. Here’s a playlist I made for it.
Mucho amor,
AM
